Some friends and I were in Yellowstone at Swan Lake, hoping to photograph Grizzly, and this Elk calf walked into the parking lot within 5 feet of us. It eventually walked into the sagebrush and laid down, within 10 yards of a well traveled road. We waited for 2 hours to see if the mother would come back to get it and sure enough it did. When it got up, I just loved the way the sun was backlighting the ears in this photo.
